Good morning Halter Ranch blogers

I am sorryyyyyyy, I have no excuses...
But  there is a french " proverbe": "mieux vaut tard que jamais" that says: "it is better to do it late that never".
So here I am.
- What is going on at Halter Ranch?
- Spring is here, yesterday Alonso cut the grass and it smell very well, that remains me France! There, you have to cut the grass every two weeks.
Oscar and Darren worked in the vegetable garden. Nothing is better than fresh hand craft vegetables.

For the vineyard part, please Mitch give us some news. For the tasting room we have to wait for Cathy who will be here on Friday.
- And what about the english class?
- I have to say that the group is doing good, they surprised me the day when I started to wonder if those classes were working or not! And now I don't want to give up because I believe on them.

Today french word:
to be =          etre
I am=           Je suis
You are =     Tu es
He is=          Il est
She is=        Elle est
We are=            Nous sommes
You all are=      Vous etes
They are=         Ils sont
They are=        Elles sont

Good afternoon,

After the rain comes the sun, if some of us do not like the rain, the vines does like it! Mitch do you think there is no more risk of freezing?
I wonder with those alternate days of warm weather and rains the vine should start growing pretty fast?

What is new at Halter Ranch? The wine!!! Almost ready for the Tasting room... I let you know as soos as the new wines are availlable for purchase.

Thank you,

Solene.

Inglish lesson

Yesterday, Wednesday February 13th, was the first english class for the Mexican workers. It is a group of 6, five from Halter Ranch Vineyard, 1 from another vineyard.
We had a really great time. The class last one hour, we learnt the english greetings, the construction of the questions.
I do not know already what are we going to learn next week but the class has to be very structured for more results.

It is more important for them to be able to talk than to write but a little bit of writing is good. The languages have some rules everybody has to learn and sometime there is not pertinent explication but who needs to understand everything...

If anybody thinks we should know, learn, do something let me know.

A new song

It appears to be a early spring in our vineyard, the tractors are busy with the tournesel and the pruners are almost half done with the most inportant task of pruning the vines.
Each year I keep a journal of the comings and goings of the migration of the birds that happen onto Halter Ranch. I have often discussed with Leslie why there are no Western Meadowlarks on the ranch. This is a beautiful bird with a melodious call that hearlds springtime. I was the bird of our youth, calling from fenceposts and open fields, and can be easliy seen in Paso Robles.

Well, last week they arrived. Lets hope that they find it a comfortable place to stay awhile.
